The Beginning
Time is relative. This means that the passage of time depends on one's perspective and motion. But what if you existed outside of time, at a vantage point encompassing all of it? Experiencing every moment simultaneously would be overwhelming for any mortal, except Atlas. After all, Atlas is no ordinary man. He is a being who transcends time, chronicling the stories of the Nexus Timeline.
Over countless eons, the burden of storytelling grew wearying on Atlas. To alleviate this, he began crafting his own narratives. These stories offered a touch of novelty to keep things engaging, without disrupting the established flow of time. Unbeknownst to him, these alterations caused the timeline to branch and contort into a multitude of divergent realities, each one increasingly disparate from the others.
As Atlas investigates the source of this divergence, he stumbles upon a highly advanced human organization capable of exploring the very multiverse he has unwittingly created. Atlas is torn. He understands that meddling with the multiverse could have dire consequences, yet he craves fresh stories to chronicle. For the time being, Atlas allows the realities to flourish, with the human organization acting as guardians to maintain order. However, he maintains a watchful eye, prepared to intervene if things spiral out of control.
The Dimensional Rangers
The Vanguard Ascension, an organization created to handle the influx of colliding dimensions, the Vanguard Ascension (VA) was established a few years after the creation of the Chrono-Dimensional Matrix (CDM). The CDM allows users to travel between dimensions and through time with just a flick of the wrist. This technology fueled humanity's exploration of the multiverse, allowing them to witness events previously unimaginable and explore alternate timelines.
One key activity involved exploring "what-if" scenarios, witnessing the consequences of unmade choices. This knowledge, however, led to a dangerous belief – that history could be rewritten with impunity. The consequences became clear the day the first universe collided. Excess realities became unstable, warping into each other and causing widespread destruction – memory loss, structural collapse, and even complete annihilation. The longer this continued, the inevitable end loomed – the end of the world, the end of the universe.
Faced with this existential threat, the Vanguard Ascension project was born. Using the CDM, they reversed time to the point before the device's creation, allowing them to develop the VA and train Dimensional Rangers (D-Rangers). These elite fighters underwent rigorous training in history, combat, and a specialized form of combat focused on protecting their primary timeline.
The VA understood that if they possessed this technology, others likely did too. They prepared for the worst, which eventually came to pass.
A colliding universe threatened to merge with theirs. D-Rangers, equipped with modified CDMs, responded swiftly. Their modified tech allowed them to summon legendary figures and units from their timeline to bolster their defenses. The colliding universe mirrored these tactics, confirming the VA's predictions. The D-Rangers' CDMs were further enhanced, granting them defensive and offensive capabilities against the other universe, as well as the ability to generate gear and historical weapons. This technological edge proved decisive, and the VA emerged victorious, albeit at the cost of the other timeline's destruction.
The VA knew this wouldn't be a singular event. For centuries, they continued to protect their timeline, eliminating countless others. This grim task weighed heavily on them, a dark fate accompanying every victory. Yet, each victory also secured peace and allowed humanity to flourish. As long as the Vanguard Ascension and the D-Rangers exist, the fabric of time and history will remain protected.
